Separation of a shared off main drainage system in Bath

POSTED: March 07, 2023

Below Ground Solutions were contacted regarding the installation of a new system and separation from a shared system on a large complex site in Bath. The site has 2 main houses that share a septic tank system and the large manor house is being completely renovated and upgraded. The system that was in place was found to have damaged pipework, cross connections, and a discharge to the water course with non-treated waste. The Manor house installed a new system with their framework contractor and BGS tendered for the work to the other sharing house to have their own system and become independent. An initial site visit was conducted to give the customer an opportunity to meet Dan from BGS and discuss requirements. Dan was confident he could provide a solution and tendered for the required works.

The tender was successful and BGS attended to conduct percolation testing within the property’s grounds. The testing was completed in line with Doc H guidelines and a design was completed and presented to the customer. A joint meeting was then held with the framework contractors to establish dates and exact works and locations of new infrastructure. Dan attended this meeting and the clients were happy to proceed.

The new system was installed as per manufacturers guidelines and to the satisfaction of the client. The works also included the below items all completed by BGS –

New rainwater soakaway and associated pipe work

New wastewater system to serve the pool house foul waste

Storage and dichlorination tank for the swimming pool back wash

New foul drainage to separate from existing system

New treatment plant and drainage field for foul disposal

Sewerage Pump station to take the waste from annexe to the new foul system

Minor electrical works completed by our electrician

CCTV and jetting of some existing drainage

The works were completed as per the tender credentials and in the time frame allowed, the client wrote these kinds works on completion –

The design met the demands of a complex site and was brought in at a very reasonable budget. The liaison from Dan throughout the process was exemplary and the speed of installation left our neighbours, who had appointed someone else to do a similar job for them, bemoaning the fact that their installation was taking so much time. The team who installed it were all personable and extremely good at their job, especially the foreman who oversaw it. Given the amount of earth that they dug out to install the tanks, the impact on the garden, at the end of the job, was negligible. All in all, very impressive”

This represents the standard and commitment BGS have to offering a quality product for a competitive price and to receive the comments above makes it all worth it.
